PITTSBURGH — According to new court documents just filed Tuesday, the statewide school mask mandate will be lifted Dec. 4 unless Gov. Tom Wolf’s administration is granted a stay by the state Supreme Court.
The memorandum opinion, filed Tuesday by Judge Christine Fizzano Cannon of the Pennsylvania Commonwealth Court, sides again with parents who have sought to overturn the state’s mask requirement for their children since it was announced at the start of the school year.

Fizzano Cannon ruled last week that the state’s mask mandate for schools was “void and unenforceable,” ruling that Acting Secretary of Health Alison Beam did not have the authority to issue the regulation. Wolf’s administration quickly filed an appeal to her ruling, which stopped the mask mandate from being overturned.
