WHITE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Police are investigating after a 4-month-old child was shot while inside an apartment in Indiana County.
According to a release, the shooting happened around 6 p.m. Saturday on College Lodge Road in White Township. Troopers said the child’s father was holding him and fired a single shot from a 9 mm handgun.

The 4-month-old boy was shot once in the upper body and rushed to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh via ambulance. That child was listed in stable condition and is expected to survive.
Police said the child’s parents were in the apartment at the time of the shooting and immediately took the baby to the nearest hospital for treatment.
Troopers said in a news released they do not believe the shooting was intentional. Once their investigation is complete, they will turn it over the Indiana County District Attorney’s Office to decide if any criminal charges will be filed.
