Washington County police are asking for the public’s help to find a woman who disappeared nearly seven years ago.
Amy Leanne Pugner was last seen on June 10, 2010, and detectives said it’s been five years since they really had any contact from anyone about the case. They said they hope that, by sharing Pugner’s photos, it might trigger some memories.
Few details were released when Pugner was reported missing. She had just moved to a new apartment in Washington from Latrobe. Her father, John, said he received three random phone calls from a man the day before she disappeared, demanding cash or they’d never see her again.
“My other daughter called me. They had called her …They were saying, ‘Amy’s dead unless I come up with $30, 000,’” John Pugner said.
Police in Washington are trying to turn up new leads. They shared Amy’s picture and her case to their Facebook page hoping to garner attention. Her family is still optimistic and hoping for answers after six long years.
Police said the case was never closed. They were able to save some DNA to have it entered into a missing person’s bank.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
