PITTSBURGH — Near record warmth sticks around Wednesday with highs in the upper 70s, just a few degrees off from the record high of 82 set in 1900. Thursday brings another round of warm temperatures with highs expected around 80, breaking the old record of 79 set in 1950. If we make it to 80 it will be the warmest Halloween on record and one of the warmest Octobers, we’ve seen.

Winds will also pick up, especially on Thursday, with gusts to 30 mph possible as kids are heading out for trick or treating. The wind will blow fallen leaves making it difficult for drivers to see kids who are out so make sure Halloween costumes include reflective tape or have a flashlight with you.

Rain showers return after sunset but should hold off until most areas have wrapped up their trick-or-treating.

It will feel more like fall Friday with temperatures a good 20 degrees cooler.
