Helmet-cam video footage shows new view of fire that destroyed 2 homes, damaged another in Jeannette

JEANNETTE, Pa. — New helmet-cam video footage shows the first responder’s point of view of a fire that destroyed two homes and badly damaged another in Jeannette last week.

You can see the tense moments unfold from the helmet camera of the first firefighter to respond to the scene of Monday’s massive blaze on Division Street. Jeannette Fire Department was already called out to a porch fire on Lavelle Street minutes before flames were also discovered on Division. JFD released the video Friday and said within seven minutes, this is what it looked like — flames consuming the backs of both houses with thick smoke billowing into the air.

You can see firefighters and police going from house to house, pounding on doors to try to evacuate neighbors.

Remarkably no one was hurt.

The fire destroyed both houses on Division Street and damaged a third next door.

The porch fire on Lavelle Street was ruled arson by a state police fire marshal while the Division Street fire remains under investigation and is being called suspicious.

11 News reached out to the police chief to see if there were any updates on the investigation, but we did not hear back.
