Susan Koeppen, WPXI-TV

Susan Koeppen is the anchor of Channel 11 News at 4PM. She also anchors the Breaking News Desk for Channel 11 News at 5PM.
Susan is a nationally known, award winning journalist. She has been honored with nine Emmy Awards and is a three-time recipient of the Gracie Allen Awards. She was the first local reporter to arrive at the Flight 93 Crash on September 11th in Shanksville, PA.
In 2011, while training for the Pittsburgh Half Marathon, she suffered cardiac arrest. Two medical students, who were driving by, gave her CPR and firefighters shocked her heart with an AED. Now fully recovered, Susan is a national spokesperson for the Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation. She works closely with the American Heart Association and has told her story on several national talk shows.
Before coming to WPXI-TV, Susan founded Susan Koeppen Media where she works as a motivational speaker, emcee and moderator for local and national events. She previously anchored newscasts for KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh. Prior to coming to Pittsburgh, she was consumer correspondent for CBS News’ The Early Show.
Susan was born in Albany, NY, and graduated from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School of Public Communications. She enjoys travel and has been to every continent except Antarctica. Her favorite activities include tennis and skiing. She is married to Dr. Jim O’Toole and they have three children.
