It’ll be a sea of green as St. Patrick’s Day approaches! Here’s a look at 11 things to do this weekend.

CANCELED: Party in the Garden

Wintergarden at PPG Place

The City of Pittsburgh has canceled this year’s St. Patrick’s Day parade, but there’s still enough to get you in the St. Paddy’s spirit! First, a brand new event to check out. Irish food, green beer, a bagpiper, a DJ and live music from the Bachelor Boys all await inside the beautiful Wintergarden at PPG Place. An all-inclusive ticket will get you two tickets for food and beverage, including everything from Guinness to mimosas to corned beef sandwiches. Admission is $25 in advance or $30 at the door. That party starts at 10 a.m. and lasts until 6 p.m.

Pot o’ Gold

Saturday, 9 a.m.

Mines and Meadows ATV/RV Resort

For those feeling lucky this time of year, there’s and event near Wampum to check out. Somewhere at Mines and Meadows ATV/RV resort are hidden a pots of gold (in a manner of speaking). It’s actually pots filled with gift cards to local breweries and wineries, and if you can find them, they’re all yours. To do that you’ll have to get dirty, heading out into the wilderness and perhaps even underground into the old mine on the property to claim your prize. Day passes are on sale right now for just $20 if you want to join in the hunt on Saturday. Guests without a vehicle of their own can log on to the resort’s website to rent one.

Brewmuda Triangle Bus Tour

Saturday, noon

Starts at Helltown Brewing

Guests can also take a trip to the “Brewmuda Triangle” in Westmoreland County this weekend. That’s what locals call the trio of breweries, Helltown, Devout and Yellow Bridge. The breweries are running a free bus service between all three locations this weekend so you can hit all of them without having to worry about driving. Starting at noon, the first bus leaves Helltown, travels to Yellow Bridge, then to Devout in a constant cycle all day until 8 p.m. Food trucks, live music and all three breweries’ crafted beer are available on one of the biggest party days of the year.

St. Patrick’s Day Party

Saturday, 11 a.m.

ShuBrew Handcrafted Ales & Food

If guests would rather stay in one place while enjoying St. Paddy’s food and drink, ShuBrew Handcrafted Ales & Food is welcoming guests. Those attending can expect a full day of Irish food, beer and music, plus giveaways and even a visit from a bagpiper. After all, what’s a St. Patrick’s Day in Zelionople without a pint of O’Shu Irish Red? The party runs from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Saturday.

POSTPONED: ’Irish Rhapsody’ with Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra

The Palace Theatre

Saturday night at the Palace Theatre in Greensburg, guests can travel to the Emerald Isle with Dublin-born composer Charles Stanford’s charming “Irish Rhapsody.” The concert will feature performances by Lorna McGhee, who plays principal flute for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. She’ll also be performing Bach’s flute concerto. Lorna is also hosting a master class from 11 a.m. through 12:30 p.m. the morning before her performance in room 114 at the Seton Hill University Arts Center. Class participants have already been selected but there are still spots available to sit in the audience and enjoy the class. The master class is free to attend, and the show at the Palace Theatre begins at 7:30 p.m. with tickets starting at $16.

Pi(e) Squared celebration

Saturday, 4 p.m.

Former Full Pint Wild Side Pub

St. Patrick’s Day isn’t the only holiday this weekend, because March 14 (or 3/14) is Pi Day. There’s a Pi Day celebration on Saturday at the former Full Pint Wildside Pub on Butler Street. From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., guests can enjoy slices of pie from Piebird at just $3.14 per slice and beer from Pittsburgh brewery Roundabout, again for the low price of just pi. There will also be someone on hand to explain the intricacies of pi for those who skipped that day in math class. Tickets are just $6.28, which, of course, is pi times two (3.14 x 2).

WordPlay

Friday and Saturday, 8 p.m.

Bricolage Production Company

WordPlay is returning to the Bricolage Production Company this weekend. Actors, comedy writers and everyday people read their own stories while a DJ spins a real-time soundtrack using anything from Brahms to Beyoncé. Attendees can expect to laugh, cry and get an extremely intimate look into the life of a total stranger. The show is at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, but visit a little early for happy half hour starting at 7:30 p.m. and enjoy free wine and beer, plus some interactive games. Tickets to attend the event are $25.

Anna DeGuzman: “The Queen of Cardistry”

Various showtimes

Liberty Magic

There’s a new face taking the stage at Liberty Magic. Her name is Anna DeGuzman, but you can call her “the Queen of Cardistry." What DeGuzman can do with a deck of 52 cards will most likely make your head spin. You may have seen her on “Penn & Teller: Fool Us” last year, but now’s your chance to see this rising star in the world of magic, live on stage. DeGuzman will be at Liberty Magic through March 29, so there’s plenty of time to catch her show.

Home and Garden Show

All weekend, 10 a.m.

David L. Lawrence Convention Center

Now that nice weather is breaking through, it’s time to start looking for some great home innovation ideas. The 39th annual Home and Garden Show at the David L Lawrence Convention Center is sure to help anyone find what they need. The show has been been going on all week, and this weekend is the last chance to get a look at more than 1,900 exhibits. Vendors include those able to help with projects from additions and air ducts to windows and yard designs. Admission to the show is $10 for adults and $4 for kids. The show runs through Sunday at 6 p.m.

SUSPENDED: Penguins vs Islanders

PPG Paints Arena

The Penguins are still hanging on in the Metropolitan Division, trying to keep playoff hopes alive. While the Pens are on the road Saturday, they’ll be home at PPG Paints Arena Sunday, hosting the New York Islanders. The Islanders were going through a similar streak to the Penguin’s recent slide. That means both teams will be firing on all engines with only a dozen games left to determine who still has a chance in the postseason. The puck drops at 6 p.m., so head to the arena to root on the home team!

Minutes Matter

We’re sure you’ve been hearing about the new life saving program “Minutes Matter.” The weekend is the perfect time to sit down and check it out. Visit minutesmatterpgh.com to learn how you could save a life. “Minutes Matter” is a partnership between UPMC and the City of Pittsburgh that provides our community with access to basic emergency information and education about life-saving interventions.
