WEST MIFFLIN, Pa. — West Mifflin High School is performing “Willy Wonka” this year.
“This musical fits our students vocally very well. It is also a family friendly show that the community can enjoy,” said director Michelle Mervos, who has directed the musicals at the school for four years.
Senior Eric Selvaggio is playing Willy Wonka.
“My favorite thing about the role is being able to sing and act weird. It’s just an awesome time,” he said.
Senior Jason Cuban has taken on the role of Charlie Bucket.
“It’s challenging to sing in a kid’s voice. Singing up in the higher register is difficult,” Cuban said.
The seniors are looking forward to their production March 15-17, but they’re also sad it’s their last high school show.
“We’re like one big family. I love every single person,” said Selvaggio.
“I’ve known everyone for a while now, and being able to work with a group of kids that I enjoy being around just makes everything easier,” said Cuban.
