‘This Is Us’ two-hour return

Sunday marks the “big three” days away from the two-hour return of “This Is Us.”

From the looks of the season 5 trailer, tissue Tuesday will be back in full force. Fans can expect more insight on the Randall and Kevin cliffhanger, in addition to our favorite characters back with more story to tell.

The hit drama will also shake things up as the characters go through some of the same pressing issues as viewers, including the coronavirus pandemic and the Black Lives Matter movement.

Keep your eyes peeled for an inside look at the highly anticipated return from “This Is Us” star, Chrissy Metz.

Owl-O-Ween Celebration

This weekend is your last chance to hit up the National Aviary for its annual Owl-O-Ween celebration.

The event is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will include new safety protocols for guests to enjoy the day safely.

Those attending will receive a treat bag full of fun, pre packaged, make-your-own owl craft kits to conduct on-site along with a spooky meet and greet with some of the owls and aviary experts.

Halloween drive-in movie series

Movie buffs, prepare yourselves for a drive-in weekend filled with iconic Halloween flicks!

Hartwood Acres is hosting a free drive-in movie series Friday and Saturday night at Hartwood Acres Park.

Friday: Hocus Pocus

Saturday: Nightmare Before Christmas

The event is free, but it is a first-come-first-served showing with gates opening at 5:30 p.m. and closing when the movie starts, or the venue is at capacity.

If you can’t get enough of the classic, Disney’s “Hocus Pocus” is having a highly anticipated cast reunion at the end of the month.

North Park Lounge gets creative with outdoor dining

With outdoor dining being so important for restaurants during the COVID-19 pandemic, owners had to get creative to make their season last longer through the colder weather.

Enter, dine-in greenhouses.

North Park Lounge in McCandless installed the little houses back in September that line the front of the restaurant providing a safe dine-in experience with a twist.

“We were worried if the virus would spike this fall/winter that some of our customers would be afraid to come inside our building even though our tables are six feet apart," owner ____ said.

“Our management team came up with the idea to use small greenhouses. Once I found some on the internet we thought they would be perfect!”

There are eight structures total seating four guests per greenhouse, and they are hoping to use them through most of fall and winter. They even have twinkle lights that come on as the sun sets, which is perfect for the holidays.

Night of Steel

Mark the calendar because this Saturday from seven to eight p.m. is the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation’s Night of Steel!

Enjoy third annual signature fundraising event, Night of Steel, presented by UPMC and the UPMC Health Plan with a twist as it goes virtual!
