BETHEL PARK, Pa. — Students in the Bethel Park School District will be back in the classrooms starting next week.
The school board approved a “safe return to school” plan on Tuesday night. Starting Oct. 5, the district will operate under a hybrid model.
Under the hybrid model, students will be divided into two groups. Each group will be in school on assigned days, two days a week, and will learn remotely on the other days.
Families who wish to have their students continue to learn 100% remotely have that option.

Before school even started this year, the vast majority of parents fought for in-person instruction and weren’t thrilled when the district went entirely online.
A statement from the district said it has long been part of their plan to offer students hybrid instruction.
District leaders said they are constantly monitoring the COVID-19 cases in Allegheny County and across the state, and the necessary protective safety measures are being taken.
“By mid-November, if Allegheny County’s positivity rate is in the low range, Bethel Park hopes to bring students back to traditional five days per week in-person schooling,” the district statement said.
