Carnegie Mellon seeks approval for $40M dorm redevelopment

PITTSBURGH — Carnegie Mellon University presented its next new student residential project for its Oakland campus to the Pittsburgh Planning Commission on Tuesday, a development called the Forbes and Beeler Residence Hall that's poised to be redevelopment of some established buildings across the street from its East Campus parking garage.

Designed by the Boston-based architecture firm Goody Clancy, with downtown-based IKM serving as local architect, the new project is slated to span a city block of Forbes Avenue from Devon Road to Beeler Street, replacing the university’s established Doherty Apartments and including a small food market for students.
