Cultural Trust launches renovation of Greer Cabaret Theater and Backstage Bar at Theater Square

PITTSBURGH — After nearly 20 years, the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is poised to revamp and redesign its Greer Cabaret Theater and the Backstage Bar at Theater Square.

The Trust announced the plan and detailed the approach at a press event in the black box theater of the Greer, a space set to be updated along with the bar, which will double in size, along with renovations of the restrooms, box office and lobby spaces.

As part of the project, which will be designed by DLR Group and Moss Architects, the capacity of the theater itself will be reduced from about 250 to 200.

“We had to make a tough decision,” said Scott Shiller, senior vice president of artistic planning and theater utilization for the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust.
