PITTSBURGH — Duolingo Inc. (NASDAQ: DUOL) is expanding its production of original animated content, and it’s tapped a former television animation executive to lead those efforts.
The East Liberty-based company announced the hiring of Linda Simensky, who now serves in the newly created role of head of animation and scripted content for Duolingo, a popular learning platform accessible via a mobile application or desktop browser that is primarily focused on languages.
As part of her duties in the position, Simensky will be tasked with leading Duolingo’s efforts of creating originally scripted and character-driven stories featuring the company’s characters. These efforts will include creating new animations of the characters to writing out their storylines as part of Duolingo’s Stories product and its Duolingo ABC childhood literacy app.
