PITTSBURGH — First Commonwealth Financial Corp. is closing 29 branches, almost all by year-end. That’s 20% of its 148 branch network across two states.
Of those, 21 are in Pennsylvania with the biggest hit coming in the 10-county Pittsburgh metro where 11 will be consolidated. The remaining eight are in Ohio.
It marks the biggest burst of cuts by the region’s 11th-largest bank and the second-biggest for the region this year. Only No. 1, PNC Financial Services Group Inc., has slated more local closures with 16, some of which have already occurred.
