First look: Shorty’s Pins x Pints ready to debut “retro-tainment” restaurant formula on North Shore

PITTSBURGH — When it comes to debuting a new restaurant concept in a 10,000-square-foot space with a capacity for more than 600 people after nearly two years of a pandemic, Herky Pollock points to a reason for confidence he wasn’t expecting.

Amid all the shutdowns and challenges from the pandemic, including major interruptions to the seasons of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers, both of whose stadiums are nearby, Pollock noted that Burgatory on the North Shore proved to be the best-performing location for the local restaurant chain during Covid-19.

So it goes that Pollock, a partner in Burgatory, is optimistic as he and his team work to open the new Shorty’s Pins x Pints in the location of the former Tilted Kilt on the North Shore, bringing a big new restaurant concept expecting to draw in not just game day crowds for the Steelers and Pirates but a growing clientele of neighborhood locals as well.
