Pittsburgh — As the four siblings of the Sunseri family hash out how to handle their disagreements over their Pennsylvania Macaroni Co. business in court, there’s more at stake than just a landmark food business that’s a destination draw for Penn Avenue in the Strip District, where it has operated for nearly 120 years.

There’s also the family company’s real estate holdings, for which real estate listing platform Reonomy lists 12 different properties, the vast majority of them concentrated around the Pennsylvania Macaroni Co. store at 2010 Penn Ave., along with a Liberty Avenue warehouse and a nearly 600,000-square-foot distribution center along the Parkway West.

With the store continuing to attract customers to the Strip through the pandemic, the Sunseri family’s real estate holdings through Pennsylvania Macaroni Co. represent a key stretch of Penn Avenue that’s a part of the Strip District that’s experienced less redevelopment than the rest of the neighborhood.
