Pennsylvania — Pennsylvania’s top-paid state employees are managing the retirement fund for public school workers or leading higher education institutions.
An analysis of salary data from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania by the Business Times’ sister publication, the Philadelphia Business Journal, found that the 25 highest-paid state employees collectively earn more than $7.88 million annually, or around $315,000 on average.
In addition to taxpayer dollars, some salaries are paid with federal funds, tolls or fees. Salaries listed do not include other forms of compensation like overtime, per PennWATCH.
