Public Paychecks: The Pennsylvania state employees who earn the most

PITTSBURGH — The 50 highest-paid employees working for the state of Pennsylvania all earned more than $200,000 in 2019. In fact, there are 52 employees topping that compensation for 2019. The cutoff to make the top 100 was $175,000.

The list of highest-paid state employees includes numerous workers in the State Employees’ Retirement System and the Public School Employees’ Retirement System. Twenty of the top 50 and 25 of the top 100 in 2019 compensation worked for the Public School Employees’ Retirement System managing its portfolio. And six of the top 50 and eight of the top 100 did similar jobs for the State Employees’ Retirement System.
