PITTSBURGH — Fox Chapel’s Shady Side Academy (SSA) has unveiled plans to build The Gene Deal Fields, a new $1.75 million multi-sport turf field complex that will be named in honor of its long-time athletics director.
The new facility, designed in partnership with Pittsburgh-based firm Strada LLC, will transform the grass fields at the academy’s Senior School campus into multi-use turf fields for baseball, field hockey, lacrosse, soccer and softball games. Improvements will also be made to the current spectator area which will see a new grandstand installed as well as a viewing pavilion and terrace area. A new scoreboard, walkways and landscaping upgrades will also be put into the new facility.
