UPMC Children’s Hospital makes US News’ top 10 best list

UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh officially opened its new campus in Lawrenceville on May 2, 2009. The $625 million cost was more than the combined construction costs of PNC Park and Heinz Field.

PITTSBURGH — UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh has once again made US News & World Report’s honor roll of the best children’s hospitals in the country.

The Lawrenceville hospital is ranked No. 9 on the list, which is topped by Boston’s Children’s Hospital. It’s one of two hospitals listed in Pennsylvania; the other is Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. UPMC Children’s Hospital was also No. 9 last year.

UPMC Children’s Hospital also ranks high in several specialties. It is No. 2 in the entire country for pediatric cardiology and heart surgery. It is also ranked No. 7 for pediatric diabetes and endrocrinology and No. 9 for pediatric gastroenterology & GI surgery.
