UPMC to open international operations center in Ireland

UPMC says key to reopening our region is to protect the most vulnerable

PITTSBURGH — UPMC is opening a global technology operations and data center in Kilkenny, Ireland, that will work on the expansion of the Pittsburgh-based health system around the world.

UPMC Global Technology Operations Center will have at least 60 employees that will join the 475 UPMC workers already in Ireland through its existing facilities in Waterford, Cork, Carlow and Kildare. It has had operations in Ireland since 2006. The amount of the investment wasn't disclosed.

The international operations that it will support include the management of new hospitals in China, the development of an academic medical center in Kazakhstan and its hospitals in Italy as well as Ireland.
