Butler County Community College main campus closed Wednesday due to MRSA

BUTLER COUNTY, Pa. — The main campus of Butler County Community College will be closed through Wednesday because of a confirmed case of MRSA.

School officials said the closure stemmed from confirmation of a case of the infection that originated in the college’s main campus field house.

MRSA is a type of staph infection that is extremely resistant to antibiotics.

Classes on the campus were cancelled Tuesday night and all day Wednesday.

School officials said they’ve contacted the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the state Health Department about the case and are working to disinfect the field house.
