Firefighters said the fire involved one car, a Monte Carlo, that was parked on top of the Smithfield Garage at Liberty Avenue and Ninth Street.

Crews said a small amount of gas leaked from the car, but the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

The garage remained open Friday afternoon. After crews brought the fire under control they stayed on scene to flush the sewer lines.

"We had a little gasoline float into the sewer line. We continue to flush the sewer lines and are standing by," said Chief Dan Hennessy of the Pittsburgh Fire Department.

No injuries were reported.
