PITTSBURGH — A car crashed into a daycare Sunday night in Pittsburgh’s West End, striking a gas meter and starting a small fire, Channel 11’s Mike Holden reported.

Officials said a woman and a child were in the car at the time of the crash, which was reported just after 10 p.m. on Wabash Street.

The car’s front end was damaged and its engine caught fire, Holden said. A neighbor who heard the crash was able to put out the small fire with an extinguisher. Firefighters were also called to the scene.

“As soon as I got out of the house, I smelled gas. That's why I ran back as soon as everybody was out of the car,” neighbor Anthony Papini said.

No one was injured.
