Blawnox fire Chief Jim McBriar said the impact caused 47,000 pounds of steel from the truck to go into nearby buildings. The tractor-trailer ripped in half.

Nearby power lines were brought down and adjacent buildings were damaged.

McBriar said half of the axle was on the track and the other half was underneath the train.

The train took out a telephone pole and was sparking. Power was turned off to the surrounding area.

The crash also caused a car to flip into the air, land on top of steel and take out a structure.

The fire department is stabilizing the impacted buildings.

No injuries were reported.
