Duquesne students, parents on alert after apparent child luring

Duquesne school officials are urging students who walk to school to go in groups, stay on their route and to be aware in the wake of an apparent child luring.

A principal said a student arrived at school on Tuesday shaken, saying a man had lured him as he walked on Grant Avenue. The boy said he escaped after kicking the man and running four blocks into J & S Food Mart, where he asked a clerk for help.

The school immediately notified parents with automated phone calls, and a letter alerted Duquesne parents of the suspected child luring.

A mother also spread the word on Facebook, writing, “Please be aware. We don’t need this in the community.”
