ERIE, Pa. — Another giant yellow duck is heading to Pennsylvania, this time to Erie for the Tall Ships Erie Festival in September.
At 61 feet tall and 80 feet wide, the world's largest rubber duck will float on the waters of Lake Erie from Sept. 8-11. In comparison to the one that made in appearance in Pittsburgh in 2013, it is about twice the size.
In order to keep it upright, the duck will contain 3,000 gallons of water. It will weigh 11 tons.
Shawn Waskiewicz, the director of the Flagship Niagara League, said that in addition to the Tall Ships Erie festival, the giant duck will be displayed at three other festivals across the Great Lakes.
The duck’s time in Erie will be spent along with seven to 10 ships that are scheduled to be showcased.
