Erie Woman Gets Life Plus 30 Years In Collar Bomb Death

Marjorie Diehl-Armstrong

ERIE, Pa.,None — An Erie woman convicted in a bizarre bank robbery plot involving the death of a pizza delivery driver killed by a bomb strapped to his neck will spend the rest of her life in prison even though the victim's family doesn't believe she was involved.

A federal judge sentenced 62-year-old Marjorie Diehl-Armstrong to life plus 30 years in prison Monday but only after a family member of the slain man said the court had gotten it wrong.

Jean Heid is the sister of Brian Wells, the pizza driver killed in the August 2003 bank robbery in Erie. She says she believes Diehl-Armstrong was the victim of manipulation.

Wells' family has continued to say that the real killers remain at large and Armstrong echoed that in her own remarks.
