Fallen Officers Remembered For Police Week

PITTSBURGH,None — There was another remindor of the sacrifice police officers make every day to keep streets safe.

Flowers were laid and there was a gun salute to remember officers killed in the line of duty.

The seventh annual service was held at a memorial on the North Shore.

The vigil comes just weeks after a new memorial was erected in Bloomfield to honor officers killed in Stanton Heights.

"It is also important that we continue to put forth effort to ensure we don't ever allow our fallen comrades to be forgotten," said Sheldon Epstein of the Pennsylvania State Police.

Officers from the city, county and state were all in attendance to pay their respects.

Officers Eric Kelly, Paul Sciullo, and Stephen Mayhle were the most recent Pittsburgh Police Officers to be killed, in April 2009.
