PITTSBURGH,None — A community remembered an officer killed in the line of duty.
On Saturday, a field was dedicated in honor of Officer Stephen Mayhle.
Mayhle was one of three policemen who were killed in Stanton Heights more than a year ago.
His family attended the ceremony and a baseball field was dedicated in his honor.
The Brookline Little League Field has long been a place where children could build on their dreams.
It's also a place where the family of Mayhle can remember his sacrifice.
"It will also be a place where my girls and I can come and know that the courageous acts of the man we love will not be forgotten," said his wife, Shandra Mayhle.
Mayhle's family was joined by local officials in an effort to recognize his work and service for the community.
Mayhle was well known for his love of baseball, so this dedication has even more meaning for those who knew and loved him.
Officer Mayhle is the third fallen officer to have a field dedicated in his honor.
Paul Sciullo Field is located in Bloomfield and Eric Kelly Field is in Stanton Heights.
