NORTH STRABANE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A large water main break along Route 19 in North Strabane Township has left neighborhoods without water and the local fire department activating emergency plans to be prepared in the event of a fire.

The break had northbound Route 19 in the area down to one lane.

The North Strabane Township Fire Department said neighborhoods in the area were dealing with low water pressure or no water at all. Pennsylvania American Water crews were on scene making repairs to the break and water buffaloes were set up at the fire station.
Fire crews said they were activating emergency plans in case of a fire by activating additional units around the area. Fire crews were also checking hydrants and medical facilities to stay prepared.

Pennsylvania American Water estimated the break will be repaired sometime on Saturday.
