Fire department no longer using siren when fire and rescue crews dispatched

HARMONY, Pa. — This might be some good news for your ears if you live in two local boroughs: Fire officials said they will no longer use the station siren when fire and rescue crews are sent out.

The Harmony Fire District posted on social media that for people living in Harmony and Zelienople, the decision was made “due to the changing times and technology.” Fire officials said it’s no longer necessary to alert members that their help is needed.

The siren will still be used for severe weather warnings.
