PITTSBURGH — A two-alarm fire Wednesday damaged a building in Pittsburgh’s Hazelwood neighborhood.

The fire was reported just before 4 p.m. at the Carlini Monument Company on Hazelwood Avenue.

Pittsburgh Fire Chief Darryl Jones told Channel 11 News that the building sustained such heavy damage that the building may have to be torn down Wednesday evening. He said his crew can't leave a structurally unsound building standing.%

No one was inside the building when the fire started, but Jones said Duquesne Light was at the building earlier in the day to turn on the electricity for the new owners. He said several items inside the building may have contributed to the fire.

The fire chief said that once the building stops smoldering, a building inspector will go in and decide if the building will be torn down.
