PHILADELPHIA, Pa. — George Washington's original headquarters tent from the American Revolution has a new home.
Some historians call the tent the "First Oval Office." It is now installed at the new
in Philadelphia.
The
will be housed inside a climate-controlled glass case.
The tent served as Washington's wartime field headquarters throughout much of the Revolutionary War.
The complex process to conserve and display the tent took years and required structural engineers, historians, tailors, conservationists, curators and others to complete, according to the museum.
The museum is scheduled to open to the public on April 19.
