PITTSBURGH — John Lucot, the president and chief operating officer of the Giant Eagle chain is calling it a career, the company announced.
Lucot, who began his career as a supermarket clerk 42 years ago, is retiring from his position at the grocery store giant.
“It is this commitment to serving others, including our tens of thousands of Team Members and millions of customers, that I will miss most,” Lucot said in a press release.
Since 2012, Lucot has served in his current role. His tenure with Giant Eagle has included executive positions in distribution, retail development, real estate and operations.
Chief executive officer Laura Karet will assume COO responsibilities for the company moving forward.
“The profound and positive impact he has had on the lives of our team members cannot be understated,” Karet said.
Giant Eagle, founded in 1931, was ranked at 36 on Forbes Magazine’s largest private corporations list. The grocery giant serves western Pennsylvania, Ohio, northern West Virginia, Maryland and Indiana.
Lucot’s final day on the job will be June 30.
