COLLIER TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Repairs continue Wednesday to a huge water main break that sent a geyser shooting into the air Tuesday afternoon in Collier Township.

Water shot from a broken 30-inch water main along Thoms Run Road, which is closed between Prestley and Presto-Sygan roads.

Pennsylvania American Water said 60 customers are without water. The company said water won’t be restored until Wednesday evening.

The water main break will impact bus service in the Chartiers Valley School District Wednesday morning. Officials said students who usually catch their bus in Presto should wait for the bus at either the Mt. Lebanon Awning company or at the lot at Thoms Run and Boyds Run roads. Several other routes could see delays because of the detour.

A water buffalo has been set up at the Presto Volunteer Fire Department for people affected by the water main break. People who wish to utilize the water buffalo are asked to bring their own containers.

The area between Prestley and Presto-Sygan roads has dealt with water main breaks before. This is the third one to happen.
