PITTSBURGH,None — Channel 11 Chief Meteorologist Julie Bologna has decided to leave WPXI-TV, effective July 13.
Ms. Bologna and the management of WPXI had been working together on trying to find a schedule that would better accommodate her desire to spend more time with her young family. Unfortunately, the two sides were unable to come to an agreement.
"I have two young sons and working evenings made it too hard for me to be there for them. I was hopeful that the station and I could work out a different schedule, but it proved to be harder than any of us thought," said Ms. Bologna.
"Julie is a unique and talented communicator. We'll miss her enthusiasm and passion for weather. Julie and I have had many conversations about her future. Both of us are confident she will be able to find the right fit that allows her to do what she loves while working a schedule that benefits her family," said Ray Carter, VP and General Manager of WPXI.
Ms. Bologna says she hasn't yet decided if she will look for a new position outside of the Pittsburgh area. For now, she says she looks forward to taking the summer off and spending time with her husband and two sons.
The station has made no announcement as to who will fill the role of Chief Meteorologist upon Ms. Bologna's departure.
