Driver injured after crashing car into pole in Strip District

PITTSBURGH — One person was injured when a car crashed into a pole in Pittsburgh’s Strip District early Monday.

Pittsburgh police, firefighters and medics were called to the intersection of Liberty Avenue and 25th Street around 3 a.m.

When they arrived on scene, they found the driver, who was conscious and alert, but unable to get himself out of the car.

Public safety officials removed both doors and extricated the man from the car. He was taken to a hospital in serious but stable condition.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
