PITTSBURGH — One year after a 23-year-old Lavar Rich was shot and killed in Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood, the search for his killer continues.
Lavar Rich was gunned down July 13, 2014, and left to die on a street corner.
Family members and authorities believe someone knows something about what happened to him.

“Just come forward and say what happened because he didn't deserve this,” said TiAnna Dorsey, Lavar’s fiancée and mother to his son.
Lavar’s family contacted Channel 11 because since his murder, very few, if any, leads have been generated in the police investigation.
“The more you don't tell, the more this goes on. This person can get out here and kill somebody that you love,” Millicent Harvey, Lavar’s aunt, said.
According to police, Lavar was shot six times and died where he fell, a grassy area at the corner of Brushton Avenue and Race Street.
A 911 caller reported hearing the shots and seeing three men running away from the scene.
Lavar’s family said they placed brightly colored balloons at the crime scene Wednesday, knowing they’ll catch peoples’ eyes and hoping they’ll shake the conscience of someone in the community.
“Every day I think about him. This shouldn’t' have happened,” Dorsey said.
Pittsburgh police said any tips about this case can be reported anonymously.
