Father, daughter dead after RV catches fire in Aliquippa

ALIQUIPPA, Pa. — A father and his adult daughter are dead after the RV they were living in went up in flames early Tuesday morning.

This happened just before 6 a.m. on Sohn Road in Aliquippa.

State Police identified the two victims as David Bosh, 54, and his daughter Jenny Bosh, 28. A third, surviving family member has not been identified. We’re told that person, who is the wife and mother of the victims, was taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation.

Sandra Cochran lives across the street from where the RV was parked off of Sohn Road. She says a woman who she did not know came running to her house early Tuesday morning, knocking on the door.

“She says ‘my house is on fire, my camper is on fire,’” Cochran said. “She said ‘my husband is dead and my daughter is dead.’”

Cochran says when she looked outside, bright flames engulfed the RV.

“I’m thinking oh my gosh! They better hurry up,” Cochran said. “Whatever happened, I don’t know. She didn’t say. The only thing she said was her pipes - when she was taking a shower - froze.”

Aliquippa’s Fire Chief, Timothy Firich, says despite snow, ice and treacherous conditions along the narrow road, crews arrived within minutes and got to work.

“After a couple minutes of attacking the fire, a bystander showed up to report there were possibly two people unaccounted for,” Chief Firich said.

The State Police Fire Marshal will determine what started the fire. We do know investigators are looking into how the RV was being heated.

On these bitter cold days and nights, Chief Firich said it’s critically important to safely heat your home.

“This type of weather is extremely dangerous,” Chief Firich said. “We’re going to see a huge uptick in methods of unconventional heating as the weather continues to stay well below freezing the next couple of days.”

The name and condition of the third family member, who is the wife and mother of the victims, has not been released.

One firefighter slipped on snow and injured his leg. He is expected to be okay
