WAYNE TOWNSHIP, Pa. — Authorities are continuing to investigate a shooting in which a man is accused of killing one person and injuring another in Greene County Tuesday evening.
The Greene County coroner said 38-year-old Cordele Patterson was shot and killed at a cabin in Wayne Township about 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Investigators identified the shooter as 32-year-old Jason Roe. He was arrested Tuesday night in West Virginia, not far from where the cabin is located.
Roe waived extradition during a hearing in a West Virginia courtroom Thursday morning. He will be brought back to Greene County to face murder charges.
According to the criminal complaint, Jason Roe admitted to shooting his wife, Lana Roe, 40, and Patterson.
The complaint also stated Lana Roe was shot in the head but was able to drive herself to a friend's house for help. Lana Roe has since been released from the a hospital.
Officers have released few other details surrounding the shooting, and a motive was not immediately clear.
Investigators told Channel 11's Cara Sapida the shooting was not the result of a love triangle.
Ernie Taylor, a friend of Patterson, said Daisytown is a small community where everyone knows each other. He added that he was very surprised to find out about Patterson's death.
"He was my friend; we worked together," Taylor said. "He didn't show up for work yesterday, and I got a phone call that he had been killed."
Dorthea Jackson said Jason Roe and Patterson were friends and practically neighbors.
“(Patterson) had a contagious smile and laugh. My kids called him ‘Afro Man’ because he never combed his hair,” Jackson said. “I know Jason and him were real tight. I don’t believe it was a love triangle.”
