WILKINSBURG, Pa. — A fire engulfed a Wilkinsburg home early Saturday, trapping and killing two children, emergency officials said.

“They were sweet and intelligent; they were beyond this world, maybe too good for this world,” said Lynda Johnson, the mother’s best friend.
Around 2 a.m. on Saturday, firefighters rushed to Shelbourne Avenue in Wilkinsburg — for a fire that began in the kitchen and quickly spread throughout the home — 7-year-old Novad Loveings and 6-year-old Brecc Loveings were in their upstairs bedroom.
By the time emergency crews could get to the room, they were unconscious. Later the two children died at the hospital.
“They loved each other so much. You see one you see the other, they were always together,” Johnson said.
Lynda Johnson is the best friend of the children’s mother and created a GoFundMe for the family.
She watched Brecc and Novad grow up — this year Novad began second grade and Brecc kindergarten.
“Beautiful, beautiful kids — teachers loved them.” Johnson
As for the children’s mother and two older siblings, Johnson said they lost everything, and donations are badly needed.
“Clothing shoes, jackets, anything,” Johnson said.
And while material items will be replaced, Johnson said it’s the loss of those two sweet children they’ll feel forever.
“A lot of prayers and a long time, it’s going take a lot of time,” Johnson, said
Monetary donations can be made online on the family’s GoFundMe page, and physical donations can be dropped off at Bethany Baptist Church located at 7745 Tioga St, Pittsburgh, PA 15208.
The Allegheny County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
