Two Peters Township high school football players set their alarm early to head to work at a local bakery where they’re learning about team chemistry and work ethic over the summer.
Early morning wake-up calls come quickly for Peters Township quarterback Chris Cibrone and running back Richie Woods.
The two boys worked at Cibrone’s family bakery.
“Go in at 4 in the morning to about 12,” said Cibrone, “Get out and then go to football practice around three.”
Woods said it took some time to get used to the early morning shift.
“I couldn’t really wake myself up in the morning. It was really hard, so I got my dad to wake me up and after a while, I got myself up. So it was tough though, but got through,” said Woods.
The two say their shifts helped them improve their chemistry for on the field.
“I would slice bread. I’ll give it to him and he’ll bag it. We’ll just keep doing it like a team,” said Woods.
Cibrone agreed with Woods, saying that the bond between them is one of the strongest aspects of their team.
“I think our chemistry is really high. I think it’s a lot of the guys on the team. We all have real high chemistry. We might not look like the best team but our bond and friendships carry us,” said Cibrone.
