Man in his 70s hit by car, killed in Harrison Township, police say

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Pa. — A man in his 70s was hit by a car and killed in Harrison Township on Friday evening, Allegheny County police said.

Emergency crews were called to the intersection of Freeport Road and California Avenue at 6:18 p.m.

When first responders arrived, they found the victim dead at the scene. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner identified him as Gary Rhebb, 74, of Natrona Heights.

The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene.

Freeport Road and Broadview Boulevard, which run parallel to each other, are closed between Idaho and California avenues, according to Hilltop Hose Company No. 3.

Allegheny County police are handling the investigation. Police have not said if any charges will be filed.
