PITTSBURGH — Two people were taken to a hospital following two crashes that ended with a rollover and multiple parked cars hit in downtown Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh police officers were called to Fourth Avenue and Cherry Way Downtown just after 7 a.m. for a crash.

Witnesses told police the incident began when a man driving a black Jeep struck a vehicle by PPG Place and then fled eastbound on Fourth Avenue at a high rate of speed.

Police said the driver of the Jeep then ran a red light at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Cherry Way and was hit by another vehicle driving through the intersection.

The Jeep rolled and flipped while continuing up Fourth Avenue, hitting three more vehicles that were parked along the street and pushing one of the vehicles into another vehicle. In total, seven vehicles were damaged, including the two involved in the crash.

The man driving the Jeep was taken to a hospital in stable condition for a laceration on his head. The female driver who was struck by the Jeep by the PPG Place was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Police said possible charges are pending.
