PITTSBURGH — Hundreds of thousands of dollars are being put towards a new affordable housing project in the Hill District.
Neighborhood Allies, an organization that focuses on community development, said it is investing $350,000 into the project.
Plans for the mixed-use development project include 1,700 square feet of commercial space and 12 affordable housing units. The project will be known as the African Queens Apartments.
Our model of neighborhood revitalization emphasizes trust as its focal point, that’s our secret ingredient. Building relationships with community members and giving them the opportunity to be the drivers of change are what Neighborhood Capital and our real estate programming were founded on,” said Presley Gillespie, President and CEO at Neighborhood Allies. “We are proud to partner with Reverend Lee Walls and the Amani team on this project.”
The project will be led by Amani Christian Community Development Corporation, a non-profit focused on rejuvenating the Hill District.
Construction is expected to begin before the end of January.
