Student falls from 4th floor window at Taylor Allderdice High School

A student at Pittsburgh Public’s Taylor Allderdice High School was taken to an area hospital Thursday after falling out of a window.
According to Pittsburgh Public Schools spokeswoman Ebony Pugh, the 16-year-old somehow fell from a fourth-floor window.
The boy was taken to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital and was conscious and alert when emergency crews arrived.
Acting Rescue Division Chief James Holman said it appears the boy suffered facial trauma and pelvic injuries. Holman said he was found in the rear parking lot of the school, and was listed in serious condition.
Holman said it appears the boy’s injuries were not life-threatening.
Pittsburgh Public Schools are investigating the incident. They said the boy claims he fell, but other students said he climbed out.
Some parents said they were upset after the school failed to alert them of the incident.
“All they would tell us is that it was a medical issue. Something that severe, parents should have been notified. They should have told us exactly what was going on,” said parent Phillip Grayson.
Grayson and his wife, Sharon, came to pick up their girls after hearing of the incident.
“Prayers for their family because it’s really sad. I have children and I wouldn’t want to experience that,” said Sharon Grayson.
