Pittsburgh police said that the initial report came in at 3:45 p.m. for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. However, Northern Regional Police Department Chief Bob Amann later said a 53-year-old woman fell from the Wexford Run Road overpass onto the interstate.
Amann said she was killed on impact and was not struck by any vehicles. An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
