Active incident reported at Woodview Terrace in Fayette County; police asking public to avoid area

NORTH UNION TOWNSHIP, Pa. — The public is being asked to avoid an apartment building in North Union Township due to an active police incident.

Pennsylvania State Police said there is an “extremely active scene” in the area of Woodview Terrace.

Troopers were called to the scene at 8:07 a.m.

Marshall Elementary School in the Laurel Highlands School District is on lockdown as a precaution. The school posted on Facebook saying, “Our building is secure, our students are safe, we will push out info as we get it.”

Channel 11 reached out to the Uniontown Area School District, which is also on lockdown due to the situation. Officials from the district said state police are at the scene of a high-risk situation and that the decision to go on lockdown came from the school’s proximity to Woodview Terrace.

The lockdown was put in place out of an abundance of caution, district officials said.

Our crew at the scene learned that people who live in Woodview Terrace were evacuated from their homes early Wednesday morning.

The Red Cross was called in to help tenants, our crew learned.
