ALIQUIPPA, Pa. — Aliquippa’s nearly century-old football stadium is getting a facelift.
Built in 1936 and affectionately known as “The Pit,” the stadium is in rough shape. Some sections of bleachers are blocked off for safety reasons.
The project has been a long time coming, something the district superintendent and coach Mike Warfield have been trying to make happen for years.
Thanks in part to a $250,000 grant from the NFL Foundation, and the district securing more than $3,000,000 in financing, a remodel is in the works.
